THE BEST WAYS OF TRANSPORTING CONCRETE TO YOUR LOCATION

WHAT IS THE BEST METHOD OF TRANSPORTING CONCRETE?

This is one of the most commonly asked questions by many of our customers. There is a wide range of ways to transport concrete to your desired site and choosing the best concrete haulage team is crucial to getting the job completed safely and efficiently.

It is important that choosing the best haulage company to transport your concrete does not compromise the final quality of the ready mix concrete. Transporting your concrete has two different stages, from transporting from the batching plant to the worksite and then within the worksite itself. Deciding on the method of haulage will depend on a couple of factors, firstly, the method of haulage will depend on the application of your concrete and secondly, the setup of the site that we will be delivering the concrete to.

WHAT IS READY MIX CONCRETE USED FOR?

There are many types of haulage methods to take into account. Once you have ordered your batch of concrete, it will then need to be transported to your desired location. We have a fleet of mixers, both concrete mixers and volumetric mixers, both of which have important aspects.

CONCRETE MIXER

This is the most common haulage method, concrete mixers are truck-mounted revolving drums which is a fantastic way to mix the concrete during transportation, alternatively, the pre-mixed concrete can be agitated during transportation until it is delivered to your desired location. Typically, concrete mixers are used for shorter journeys and when the concrete is required in a short period of time.

VOLUMETRIC MIXER

Volumetric mixers have many leading benefits, most importantly, they are a mobile batching plant. The mixer will be able to transport the ingredients of the concrete to your desired location while mixing your concrete on route or once it has reached you. Most importantly, mix your concrete entirely to your requirements once we have arrived at your site. In situations where the requirements may fluctuate, having your concrete delivered by volumetric mixer means that your concrete can meet all your requirements to demand.

Once we have arrived at the desired location, we then have the ability to transport your concrete within your site. There are a variety of options and choosing the most reliable method will depend massively on the location of the desired pour site and the conditions of your worksite. Although in some situations manually transporting the materials onto site would be the simplest option, it is not always deemed the easiest or most cost-effective option. This is why we can also use a variety of methods to get the works completed.

MANUAL DELIVERY

As previously mentioned, transporting concrete at the final stage of the delivery process can be deemed as not cost-effective, nor time-effective. To complete this method of transportation the construction area should be easy to navigate, safe and secure meaning that the concrete is delivered securely and reliably.

PUMPS

There are three types of concrete pumps that we can provide, boom pumps, line pumps and specialised usage pumps. Boom pumps are used as a remote-controlled robotic arm that can deliver a large volume of concrete to areas that are hard to reach such as areas that have obstacles that are different to avoid, or areas such as upper-level floors. Line pumps are pumps that are a brilliant option if an area is hard to reach due to a variety of obstacles or when you need to pass through a building to place the concrete and finally, line pumps, these are used to cross over long distances.
